Week 3.
Hi Team Sakina!
I hope everyone enjoyed the workouts last week. We had many people doing their first tempo run and hill workout ever! The endurance group had a great first workout towards improving endurance. I thought Joan’s speech was very motivational.
Turning to Week 3, we will be at the track this Thursday at 6:15.
- The intermediate endurance group will be doing a 3 ½ mile run. We will be running in the Laurel Hills neighborhood
- The intermediate aerobic group will be short intervals. We will aim to complete 8 laps of running at tempo pace on the 1 or both straight-aways (depending on the person and walking/slow jogging the curves.
- The advanced group will also be doing short intervals. We will be doing 6-8 laps of 100 hard, 100 easy jog, 100 tempo pace, 100 easy jog.
Balanced movement physical therapy will be doing a seminar on Running Gait starting at 7:15. This will be an “interactive” seminar in which 3 speakers will present information on running gait, and then allow participants to practice the techniques, ask questions and get feedback. Establishing good running form is important for injury-prevention and improving speed/ endurance/ and overall efficiency. The seminar will last about an hour.
We will be doing a warmup and cooldown as usual but will not do core and strides this week because of the dynamic nature of the seminar.
Also, optional yoga Tuesdays at 7:30. Email for more details.
I have made a couple changes to the website to make it clearer. In particular, if you have had a hard time finding the weekly schedule and workout schedule, I have made them easier to access.
Thanks for the hard work, dedication and willingness to be open-minded in practice. I hope that the workouts and other aspects of the program can be matched to your individual needs in a way that is fun and rewarding and most importantly, helps you to achieve your goals.
Endure. Sustain. Sakina!
Kerry
